Alright, I got a 12-hole tenor ocarina for my birthday, for those 3 of you that didn't know. I had always planned to take my ocarina to school with me, but after browsing The Ocarina Network (of which I'm a member), I've heard many a horror story about playing on campus. From people ignoring you and walking away to going so far as to throw things at you and cuss you while you're playing. It was... scary. o.o;

But I was determined! I took my ocarina with me today, and after my last class and a bite of lunch, I sat on a bench infront of the library and started playing. I was timid at first, playing as quietly as I could, which played hell with the high notes. After warming up, I started playing "Still Alive" from Portal. [link] If you'll listen, you can tell that most of the notes are pretty high. After the first 2 chords, I was afraid I was getting on people's nerves, so I stopped. When I did, this guy who was walking infront of me started humming where I stopped. O.O He nodded at me, I nodded back, and I picked up where he left off as he sang the words and went about his way. After that I played some Cosmo Canyon (my best song). By THAT point, I had like 5 people floating around me, listening and enjoying. :'D And then it happened.

Random Dude in Yellow: "That's pretty cool. I wish I could stay and listen, but I gotta get to my next class."

Me: "No sweat, glad you liked it. Take it easy!"

RDiY: "You to, and keep up the good work!"

As he walked off, someone asked me if I just play game music. I admited that most of the songs I know are from games, and that I'm a huge nerd. To prove it, I started playing the Tetris theme. When I finished, the guy in yellow HAD COME BACK TO LISTEN TO MORE!! *pleased*

And as if that isn't the best part?! Shortly after that I started to play some music from Legend of Zelda: Windwaker, 'cause I think it sounds amazing on the ocarina. I had like 8 people floating around (a few even clapped to the rythme!), when suddenly one guy starts dancing.

I'll pause while you find your socks that just blew off... *waits*

Yea, I'm playing the Windwaker theme, and this dude starts doing the River Dance. It. Was. EPIC!!!!!

From now on, I'm taking my ocarina to class every FREAKIN' day!
